At the Institute for Sustainable Development (ISD), we believe that true progress begins within the community. Community engagement is the foundation of sustainable development as it ensures that initiatives are not only well designed but also deeply rooted in the realities, needs and aspirations of the people they aim to serve.

By actively involving local communities in every stage of our projects, from planning to implementation, we co-create solutions that reflect local knowledge and experience. This participatory approach empowers individuals to take ownership of change, strengthening social bonds and ensuring that progress is long lasting and meaningful.

Through dialogue, trust building and collaboration, ISD works to connect citizens, local authorities and institutions in shaping a shared vision for a better future. We see community engagement not as a single activity but as an ongoing partnership that fosters resilience, inclusivity and collective responsibility.

In every initiative, from rural development to climate action, ISD stands committed to listening, learning and working hand in hand with the people because sustainable development can only thrive when communities lead the way.

LATEST PROJECT ACTIVITY: The Future Through Children’s Eyes

ISD introduces the first educational project using artificial intelligence in primary schools in Tetovo

The Institute for Sustainable Development (ISD) has implemented a unique and inspiring pilot project at the primary school “Liria” in Tetovo, introducing for the first time the creative use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the educational process to stimulate children’s imagination, self-confidence and free thinking.

 A Different kind of lesson

As part of this innovative activity, fourth-grade students participated in an interactive class where they discussed their dreams and the professions they wish to pursue in the future.

After the discussion, each student was photographed individually and shared what they want to become when they grow up – some chose to be doctors, others engineers, teachers, artists, football players or scientists.

When technology meets imagination

Using artificial intelligence software, the ISD team processed the children’s photos and created a visual projection for each child, showing how they might look 20 years from now, dressed in the attire or symbols of their chosen professions.

The results were extraordinary: every child saw themselves in the future – older, more mature and in the role they had envisioned with love and confidence.

Inspiration for the Future

This learning session became a moment filled with emotion, joy and pride for both students and teachers. The project delivered a clear message that modern education is not just about theoretical learning, but also about motivation, awareness and preparation for life.

Innovation, education and vision

This activity is part of ISD’s ongoing commitment to integrating digital innovation into the educational process and developing projects that connect technology, creativity and social sustainability.

“When a child sees themselves in the future, they are not simply imagining a profession – they are creating a purpose, a direction and a belief. Within these small dreams begins the story of the future we want to build. ISD believes that education should be a space where children feel free to imagine, create and believe in their potential. When technology meets creativity, a new learning process emerges that not only teaches but also inspires and empowers,” emphasizes ISD.

ISD – For creative and sustainable education

Through this pilot project, ISD aims to inspire other schools to adopt interactive methods and new technologies that give children the opportunity to express themselves, think critically and dream without limits.

This is just a small step toward a greater goal: shaping the next generation of conscious, creative and dedicated citizens.

The project “The Future Through Children’s Eyes” was implemented in collaboration with the Primary School “Liria” in Tetovo, with the support of the pedagogical staff who contributed to making the learning experience positive, motivating and educational.
